[00:00:10] Russ Johns: Hey, good morning, everyone. Thank you so much for being here on the #PirateBroadcast. We have an author and an extraordinary individual that's going to be joining the pirate crew here and first and foremost, I want to thank you all for joining us. If you're doing remote, if it's tomorrow, if it's today, if it's right now. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. All of this means so much for us and I appreciate you being part of the community. So thank you so much for joining. And today we're going to be talking to Rose Morgan. She's an author, a mother and a parent creating some amazing books. She has a book out called the Chronicles of Alger, and we're going to be talking about that journey and how she got to be the author of this book and some of the things about life in general. So thank you for being here Rose. Good morning or good evening in your neck of the woods. It's afternoon, right?

[00:01:08] Rose Morgan: Afternoon, but the mornings USA.

[00:01:12] Russ Johns: Yeah. So rose, thank you so much for being here. I really appreciate it. And as an author, the first question I have is. That always comes to mind is how the heck did you decide? Was there a moment where you just made an impact in your life? And it's okay, I'm just going to write this thing instead...

[00:01:35] Rose Morgan: Actually yeah, I think I had hit one button with my mental health because I'm a survivor of post-traumatic stress disorder. From an early trauma from childhood abuse. I got to a point, I thought I needed to incorporate the way I was feeling into something. So I thought, why not make a world and put myself into my characters, my traits, my feelings.

[00:02:03] Russ Johns: So it was a fantasy that you created to get through your challenges.

[00:02:09] Rose Morgan: Yeah, basically I created, or basically I used bedtime stories to my children and I created live articles, tink, and Tom little inventors that live in the pot mini garden that make things that are useful things. So I wanted to bring them into the story. And then I thought every night I have nightmares. So I wanted to build a world would add more nightmares, but I also had my heroes. So I put it all together. And that's why I come up with the Chronicles of Alger.

[00:02:43] Russ Johns: So was there a moment in time, you going from the nightmares and the creation of these characters that, probably in the early stages, you didn't think about creating a book.

[00:02:56] Rose Morgan: No, I didn't. Years ago, it was like, I just told him bedtime stories about the tinkers every night for, I went to. And then you have ago heard it, like I said, hit rock bottom with my mental health. And I thought I got to do some that, so I wrote.

[00:03:13] Russ Johns: So how long did it take you to write this book?

[00:03:17] Rose Morgan: And I just carried the enemies and darkness and light and there were 40 of us.

[00:03:29] Russ Johns: Challenged the mind. So how long did it take you to go through this process?

[00:03:33] Rose Morgan: The book a year from start to finish. I still haven't finished it really because I'm on the second book now writing it.

[00:03:41] Russ Johns: Oh, so there's a second book. How many books do you see coming out?

[00:03:48] Rose Morgan: Quite a few, actually, because I've in my first book at first several characters and they all got their own store. So they've all got so much to tail. Oh man, we've got another billion adventures. And the second book is called the keepers of the piece, which is about, it goes back thousands of years where in darkness and light and castles and king, Deitzler about, and they go against the darkness.

[00:04:14] Russ Johns: How do you, there are all these characters developed already and you're just capturing all on paper or is it something that continues to evolve?

[00:04:27] Rose Morgan: Every character evolves, isn't it? And you bring him a life. Like my Sal is my main character in my first book, she's basically a young child who gets caught in a world and. She's wanted the demons and all the monsters is after and she don't know why. And then she finds out she's carrying she's the prophecy. She comes on light with Donna, which could kill all the darkness.

[00:04:54] Russ Johns: So that's the reason that they're asking.

[00:04:57] Rose Morgan: Yeah, basically, but she meets loads of people on the way, and they have dresses and there's a big war to come.

[00:05:07] Russ Johns: So I just want to give a shout out to some of the people that are here today. We've got some visitors in from South Africa. Good morning, Elise. Good morning, Russ and rose. Good morning, fellow pirates. Thank you so much for being here from Texas. Jordan says good morning. Yes. Junaid. And I did an episode yesterday morning for pirates. Good morning friends. Thank you so much for being here. Junaid had a great conversation. We both for anybody that's into human design. We're both projectors. Three, five or five, three projectors. I'm not sure which one that is, but. Good morning layman. Thank you so much for being here. Yes. I see your messages. Yes. I've seen your messages. He says happy birthday, Marcia. So we have an active community here, rose. So some of the thing, what is it that you want to uncover in this journey of writing books? What is it? How is it helping you in your journey as a as a parent, as a mother?

[00:06:42] Rose Morgan: Because I have mental health and I got this, I've got it very bad. I have really bad nightmares, which basically they've come as demons and attack me all the time. So I invent a world where I can actually find some way to escape. And if I can write it down on paper, it relieves some of the pressure.

[00:07:08] Russ Johns: And by doing this, how often do you write?

[00:07:13] Rose Morgan: Do you understand?

[00:07:16] Russ Johns: You're breaking up a little bit Rose. You're breaking up a little bit. Oh, you write every day.

[00:07:26] Rose Morgan: Yeah.

[00:07:28] Russ Johns: So how often are you going to be releasing these books? How frequently?

[00:07:35] I'm hoping every year.

[00:07:37] Okay. That's fantastic then.

[00:07:41] Rose Morgan: It's good enough.

[00:07:44] Russ Johns: A book a year is probably a good start, right? How are your kids grown now?

[00:07:49] Rose Morgan: Yeah, all my kids grown up now. One's 24 He's into computers in college, my daughter's a law student and my other daughter's an art student.

[00:08:00] Russ Johns: Wow. Is she going to do any graphics for your books?

[00:08:04] Rose Morgan: Most probably eventually.

[00:08:08] Russ Johns: Our our connection. Isn't very good Rose. I apologize. But tell us a little, tell us a little bit about how this helps re impact your mental health.

[00:08:17] Rose Morgan: As you all aware, I was abused by my parents when I was a child from the age of 11 to 15, by my stepmother and my dad watched it all up and it was basically torture constantly and to come out of it and going through hell of a lot of nightmares and fighting and anxiety and panic attacks, which I have quite a lot of I seriously and reminder station. I thought I'm still getting them the shakes when needed to incorporate some, I thought a book would work.

[00:08:58] Russ Johns: So it's almost like you discovered your own outlet to relieve your mental health, stress and anxiety. Yeah. Mental health is is challenging. So is the last year and a half been helpful or supportive for your book to isolate or is it challenging for you?

[00:09:23] Rose Morgan: It's been challenging. Very. I've been very sick and my mental health and it just come off, I just had to wait so much. I just like people to know our bad mental health is not a post traumatic stress affects people and it doesn't just affect, army soldiers. It affects everyone worldwide. And you just feel like you're caged in your own mind and you have to escape.

[00:09:54] Russ Johns: I just have to give you a shout out for taking the initiative to come onto the #PirateBroadcast and, share this. Cause a lot of people are going through this and they may not even recognize what it is.

[00:10:08] Rose Morgan: These people are going nightmares and they're getting the shakes and the scared to leave the house. And they've got over and you keep it written. It's the same thoughts that she can't do. This is you have to find that light and you are not staying at raw.

[00:10:36] Russ Johns: Yeah. So what are some other things that you're doing to get past this and through this.

[00:10:43] Rose Morgan: I am actually virtual reality. Really VRX sets are absolutely brilliant.

[00:10:52] Russ Johns: Tell us about it.

[00:10:53] Rose Morgan: He put my husband invested in one, three days ago for my mental health, because I was at. The extreme was beating too fast. So we bought the headset and it is amazing. You actually visit space and because it's 360 it's, you've actually there with them. Wow. I cried my first time. I cried while you also were having it because it was a beautiful, he was going, I was going through a glider scope. To watch flower get is just unbelievable.

[00:11:32] Russ Johns: That is insane.

[00:11:33] Rose Morgan: Oh, it is. It's put him for mental health. It creates a, he takes a small bit of the negative bits, a positive back in and bit by bit and helps. And then you start talking about good experiences where you've been, not yesterday. I went to an helicopter ride upstate and he felt so real. You don't even feel yourself going down the Hills. Oh, wow. It is amazing.

[00:12:03] Russ Johns: That's insane. They have all kinds of things then.

[00:12:07] Rose Morgan: Yeah. Everything you could ever think of. It's on there. Oh man. Such stories. My.

[00:12:16] The house and listen to a story, listen to the story about some gentleman who had lost all his family in the ISIS, and you've walked around the house where he's telling the story and you're walking outside and all the disaster took place. It's literally brilliant.

[00:12:35] Russ Johns: Does it feel like you're right there then?

[00:12:37] Rose Morgan: Yeah.

[00:12:39] Russ Johns: Holy cow.

[00:12:44] Rose Morgan: Go ahead to be in space. See, so it's just amazing to watch the earth below.

[00:12:52] Russ Johns: Yeah, that would be incredible. And it does it, was this a place that you went to, or is this a device that you purchased?

[00:13:00] Rose Morgan: It's a device is a head put on your face and it's like a goggles attached to your head. And it just covers up back there and you get two remotes for your hands and then your hands going to virtual reality.

[00:13:14] Russ Johns: Wow.

[00:13:16] Rose Morgan: And it's brilliant for mental health.

[00:13:19] Russ Johns: You can see, so you could take your book and adapt that to a virtual reality. Couldn't you?

[00:13:24] Rose Morgan: Yeah, I would love to do what's that off. Somebody else probably could take the store into. Look again and virtual reality game, or they can turn into get normal game or, a film cartoon.

[00:13:40] Russ Johns: That would be fun. That would be really fun. I want to say Gabe gave us in the house. Good morning, Gabe. Good morning, everyone. Melody is here. Good morning. Thank you so much for being. Jordan says, heard a lot about those the VRS in LinkedIn. I don't know who you are, but a good morning on LinkedIn also. That'd be amazing to see, and I think we're going to see a lot more of the VR, virtual reality and a lot of different arenas. I would think it would be amazing.

[00:14:12] Rose Morgan: I think if you could bring senses into it as well, I like torch and smile pick you. That would be everything. Then you could actually be there completely.

[00:14:23] Russ Johns: Wow. How did it feel to do it for the first time? Nausea?

[00:14:30] Rose Morgan: I can go on a roller coaster. You go up it and then it feels like you got to hide. He goes,

[00:14:36] Russ Johns: You can actually feel it, huh?

[00:14:40] Rose Morgan: Yeah.

[00:14:41] Russ Johns: Wow.

[00:14:42] Rose Morgan: And you standing in the middle of a lake and you got a train coming towards your real train and then suddenly it turns into birds and they will fly it. Yeah. Brilliant. I advise everyone to get one of those. It's actually amazing. Yeah.

[00:14:58] Russ Johns: It's like live streaming is such a a new thing that. It's coming along and virtualization, so you could actually be around multiple people could be around different places in the world instead of sit at a table and have dinner together.

[00:15:18] Rose Morgan: And he's only not, they've got that as well in there. I haven't tried it yet. These virtual chats is where you're going to meetings where everybody I've read about.

[00:15:29] Russ Johns: Yeah. So tell us the actual book process. So you're writing. And then at what point in time do you decide to turn it into a book? Is it I noticed it was on Amazon, it's available there. You got some great reviews and anybody that's on the #PirateBroadcast can go check it out on Amazon. It's available there.

[00:15:52] Rose Morgan: Tell the truth. It started out as a short story, but in the last, if I could turn into a novel, so you've on a limit on many words, you've got a right when you're writing a novel, it's got to be 50,000 plus. And at the time I don't even vote 10,000 words on it. Ooh. And they said, no. Then they said to me, oh, you got three months to complete this.

[00:16:20] Russ Johns: And so what happened in three months?

[00:16:23] Rose Morgan: I completed it. I did 6, 7, 8, 6 to eight hours a day. Constant writing.

[00:16:31] Russ Johns: Wow. How did that feel to you?

[00:16:35] Rose Morgan: Do hard work. Let's say you put it this way. I hate my own book because you edited that much. You south, about 50 times of edited it and used to ignore not perfect. So my daughter ended up doing it for me, but I know the story inside out.

[00:17:00] Russ Johns: Yeah. You you created the story, so you have.

[00:17:05] Rose Morgan: Yeah.

[00:17:07] Russ Johns: And that's been years in the creation, right?

[00:17:09] Rose Morgan: The tink has been weld in creation. My little man, which I like to write small books offer for children because it's not the bombers, the borrowers, but their cousins. Yeah. They'll think is delivered the bottom of the garden. They invent stuff. They get into a lot of trouble. They make things like Moomoo. But the makeup, the Springs are pens. So when the belts to RD went straight through the ceiling and he's come through, the other end and they get into a lot of miss chief. And because of my condition, I didn't want my kids to have nightmares as well. So I invented them.

[00:17:49] Russ Johns: And it sounds like your kids turned out pretty well. Yeah, they're good. Good kids. That's awesome. I really appreciate you being here rose and sharing this story because it's important for a number of reasons. Number one, the fact that you've gone through trauma, you've gone through stress. You're working through that. And also the fact that you took it in and put it into a positive spin and created a book. And. Actually generates a lot of interest in the community. If Kendall is coming back and saying, Hey, can you write a novel, can you expand this story and make it bigger? That's that had to feel pretty good.

[00:18:30] Rose Morgan: It was, but it's said it's down to who, in it. And now like my wider field, I don't know millions of people.

[00:18:41] Russ Johns: You don't know many of the people?

[00:18:43] Rose Morgan: No, I don't know a lot people. Okay then people I know on LinkedIn, I know I live in a village, which is like 3000 people and that's it. And everyone keeps himself to themselves. Yeah.

[00:18:57] Russ Johns: Yeah. Some people would find that to be very good.

[00:19:02] Rose Morgan: What, living in a small village, it is. It's beautiful. I live in Wales and we're in the middle of the valley. So we got mountains on one side mountains on the other side, small little villages in between, each other. Yeah. It's nice.

[00:19:20] Russ Johns: But sometimes isolating. Yeah. So do you have to travel to go to any populated areas? Okay.

[00:19:30] Rose Morgan: We do, we have Cardiff, which is about 30 miles. The big cities, if we wish to go. Yeah. But to be honest, I don't do a lot of people. Yeah.

[00:19:49] Russ Johns: So you get to stay home and right then, all right. Not a bad thing, not a bad thing.

[00:19:56] Rose Morgan: I'm actually on chapter seven at the moment. So I've got quite a while to go.

[00:20:02] Russ Johns: How many chapters are you going to, are you thinking about

[00:20:07] Rose Morgan: 80,000 words on the next book at say about 30, 40 chapters? Like I said, it's about the Knights of the light. They're actually from the church. The church and they turn, like I said, the cabby sorts and all that lot and round things and they go against the demons. They go against the living dead.

[00:20:29] Russ Johns: Oh, wow.

[00:20:30] Rose Morgan: Zombies like against them.

[00:20:35] Russ Johns: Is that it's still a child's book.

[00:20:38] Rose Morgan: No it's for adults, that one.

[00:20:41] Russ Johns: Yeah. Melody says there are a number of tools out there to help us heal from PTSD and journaling or writing is a great one. Bravo, two euros for using it.

[00:20:53] Rose Morgan: I've gone through channels.

[00:20:57] Russ Johns: That's very kind of you. Thanks Melody for sharing that. I've journaled for years in written volumes of stuff that probably, I couldn't read if I went back and looked at it, but it's really a journey to get that out. And I have to apply to you for putting it down to share it with other people. Cause that's a feat, that's an accomplishment.

[00:21:17] Rose Morgan: Sharing like mental condition our, the abused and stuff. It's not nice having your step-mom throw knives at you.

[00:21:27] Russ Johns: No, probably not. Not very good. And I'm glad that you're here sharing this information with the pirates. I really appreciate the fact that you joined us. I would love to have you back next time, when you would get ready to release the book, it'd be great.

[00:21:44] Rose Morgan: I have a better cover then. There's only so much you can do on a no budget.

[00:21:50] Russ Johns: Yeah. That's but that's a, it's a start, right? You start wherever you are and you do it.

[00:21:55] Rose Morgan: My face is on the back cover.

[00:21:58] Russ Johns: There you go. That is something fantastic. It's fantastic. And it's an accomplishment that you can be proud of too.

[00:22:08] Rose Morgan: No, I'm proud of it. Yeah. My husband is because I've bugged him every night about character's.

[00:22:18] Russ Johns: He probably knows the story inside now. Huh?

[00:22:20] Rose Morgan: He's more into the next story because it's like the living dead against the nights.

[00:22:26] Russ Johns: Wow. Sounds fascinating. Keep writing, keep doing great work. And when you get it released, let me know. And we'll get you back on the #PirateBroadcast.
